Overall, The Color Purple was well written book that showed the dynamics of race, religion, sexuality and  gender. This book shed light on some of the things that occurred back then and some that even occur todya. This book showed that regardless of the circumstance if you stay grounded, keep your faith and follow your goals anything can happen. Such as Celie learning to read, reuniting with her children and even opening her own business. All these things happened against all the odds being against her. Such as being motherless, a rape victim, being mentally, physically and emotionally abused and being a mother at a young age. But against all odds Celie still prospered had her happy ending.

In the novel The Color Purple by Alice Walker, the main protagonist Celie was often pretty specific when describing the events and characters in certain scenes. In the book she was writing to god which coincides with the movie as well, but their were scenes and attributes that contradicted the book. Such as Shugs skin tone. In the book she was described as extremely black but in the movie she was portrayed by a brown skinned woman. Another difference was in the book Celie writes back to Nettie which was not the case in the movie. Also Celie simply believes in God in the movie and does not address her letters to God as done in the book. And lastly another difference was a lot of the male characters were soften to not seem as abrasive such as mister and  Celie’s father. Some similarities were the relations between Shug and Celie, and Sofia’s strong character were both well represented in the movie as well as the book.

Dear Ralph Ellison, “A classic is a book that has never finished” - Italo Calvino. When reading this quote it reminds me of how your book ( Invisible Man) was far ahead of its time. It addressed issues that although were occurring during the era you wrote the story, would still be very prevalent in today’s society. A textual example of this could be found in the Royal Rumble scene of your book, where all the blacks were blind folded and forced to fight to the death. This scene is relevant in today’s society because although in the story their eyes were closed physically, they were also closed metaphorically by the blind fold put on by whites. Such as with education, religion, drugs, money and etc. These things can be considered blinders because they are used to control and manipulate.  Another textual example seen in the book was in chapter 7, while the narrator was on a bus to New York, and he encounters a veteran who tells him to become invisible to the white man and hide hims...

1) The device that appears in the vet’s advice to the narrator was metaphor because he was not literally talking about fog but he was talking about the narrator’s foggy judgement and perception. 2) What the vet was saying when he told the narrator to be his own father was that he needs to do things on his gown and discover opportunities by himself rather than waiting for someone else to afford them to you. 3) The Allusion used to describe the narrator’s arrival was the story of Jonah. He alluded to being in the belly of the whale and how he has to be directed by the police to the men’s house.

The invisible Man is a book with a wide range of themes and ideologies. Personally I feel the most important themes were racism, stereotypes and  finding your own identity. Most black literature contains the same themes and messages. For example Langston Hughes poem I, Too. All three themes apply to the poem as well as the story because I, Too, was a poem that discussed overcoming obstacles with a single goal in mind. This coincides with the finding your identity them because in order to overcome something you must get a grasp of your own identity and what you want to do. Racism applies to this poem because although not really stated, it can be insinuated that the obstacles were because of racism, and that due to the color of your skin you would not be afforded the same opportunities, there for making it harder to achieve your goal. In Robert Ellison’s the Invisible Man there are many prominent themes. Three main themes are racism, stereotypes and discovering your identity. The book is based around the Jim Crow era and racism is a extremely serious matter at the time and is a constant theme of the story. An example of this I seen in the battle royal scene. In this scene we see blacks fighting each other blind folded for the entertainment of whites. This scene showed how whites thought of blacks during this time. Another theme in the story was stereotyping. An example of this was with Trueblood and his daughter. This scene expounded on how whites were not really disturbed by the fact that Trueblood got his daughter pregnant. They were thought this was the norm and actually praised it in a way. And lastly the third theme was finding your identity. Chapter 4 1) The imagery in this chapter belie’s the narrator inner tension can be connected to the white line dividing a highway and he also used college and how it and the white line can be seen as dividing. 2) The narrator hates Trueblood because of what he did to his daughter, he also hates him because he feels as if he is affecting him in a way. 3) The effect of comparing the campus to a plantation is an elaboration of how although the blacks are allowed on campus the still suffer from the pretenses of the whites. 4) Dr. Bledsoe has achieved power by following his white predecessors and making sure he keeps them pleased. 5) The mirror and the aquarium are metaphors because they can both create distorted images, which would make a person lose their sense of self. 1) Allusion is used in the second paragraph when the narrator alludes back to a time where slavery was prominent, he also talks about his own personal experiences. 2) The quote said to the narrator by his grandfather can be received as him saying that you can solve most problems by being the bigger person and eventually you will prevail. 3) The significance of the narrator viewing of himself as Booker T Washington comes from the prominent roll he played in the African American history and he views himself as someone that important. 4) The narrator felt uncomfortable and out of place in the presence of the naked blonde. 5) This chapter shows the limits of assimilation by showing although the narrator is content amongst the whites, there is still a sense of uncertainty. In the book Adventures Huckleberry Finn, we see our main protagonist Huckleberry Finn, who was a prominent character in The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, and his the adventures he goes on. Huck, who is the son of a verbally abusive drunk, was adopted by a widow named Mrs.douglas and we see her try to domesticate Huck and teach him to read which he reluctantly does. We see him and his friend Jim go on adventures and they eventually meet a pair of con artists named Duke and The Dauphin. As they go through town scamming, they encountered deaths and violence, but the worst thing they end up doing is selling Jim to a local farm. When Huck goes to rescue him, he realizes his new “ owners” are actually Tom Sawyers aunt and uncle. After plenty of obstacles they eventually rescue him and it is revealed that Jim was a free man all along. Aunt Sally then attempts to adopt Huck but Huck decides that he is done being domesticated and decides to move west.

 1. “ Forever is composed of nows”       •  This quote can mean that forever can on my be determined by our actions and choices that are made now because they affect our future and forever. This also means that right now can determine our forever.  2. “ That it will never come again is what makes life so sweet”       • This quote means that the fact this is our only life to live it makes it significant. By saying this          Dickinson is saying that significance of life is that we only live it once so we should appreciate it and live it to the fullest. 3. “ If I can stop one heart from breaking, I shall not live in vain”      • This quote can be interpreted as Dickinson saying that if she could prevent one person from experiencing the pain of a heartbreak, she would have not lived with our purpose and would’ve accomplished something positive and lived her life with purpose. ...

In response to Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, the story depicts a young Victor Frankenstein and how his curiosity resulted in the creation of his monster. We see his monster deal with an array of emotions from anger, loneliness and neglect from his creator which his desperately seeked. In response he reacts in anger by killing Victors brother, friend and his fiancé Elizabeth. In the end of the story we see the monster show a emotion he had not shown, remorse, as he weepers of his dead creators lifeless body in realization that his only chance of having a companion was gone and he was part of the reason.

In act 3 Banquo voices his suspicions of Macbeth.  Macbeth announces that he will be having a banquet and Banquo will be the guest of honor. Banquo dismisses the honor saying that he has to ride that’s afternoon. Macbeth then orders two murders to kill Banquo and Fleance. Macbeth also hires a third murder and while the succeed in killing Banquo, Fleance escapes. When they return with the bad news Macbeth tells them to finish the job and kill Fleance. While at the banquet Macbeth sees a hallucination of Banquo and begins to act erratically and Lady Macbeth dismisses it as a illness.

In act 2 we see Lady Macbeth’s plan going into action. In scene 2 we see Macbeth returning from killing Duncan. He is in shock and has not even cleaned himself off. He was deeply shaken. Lady Macbeth warns him to not act suspicious. She then tells his to plant the daggers on the bodyguards. Then while attempting to “wash” the blood of their hands, it is obvious that the only washed the physical damage away. Their house is also referred as hell due to the ghastly murder that occurred in the house. As the people in the house began to realize that Duncan was dead, Malcolm runs away drawing suspicions towards him.

In act one of Macbeth we are introduced to Macbeth, Lady Macbeth, the witches, Malcom, Banquo and king Duncan. In the first scene we see the witches wait to meet Macbeth in a scene with thundering and lightning. In scene 2 king Duncan is returning from war. Also Macbeth is being honored as a hero. In the scene 3 the witches finally meet Macbeth and address him as thane if cawdor. This frightens Macbeth. Banquo begins to become suspicious and questions Macbeth. In scene 4 Duncan thanks Banquo and Macbeth for there bravery and announces that his son Malcolm will be the heir to his throne. He announces that he is coming to Macbeth’s home. Macbeth then prepares for his visit. In scene 5 Lady Macbeth receives a letter from Macbeth about the two witches and feels he is too nice to kill king Duncan. She then makes preparations for king Duncan’s murder. In scene 6 Duncan arrives and is looking for Macbeth. In scene 7 they plan to murder the king

This scripture depicts why we should praise the lord. The scripture says that his love endures forever, meaning no matter what we do the Lord will relentlessly love us. The scripture also calls for all nations to extol him meaning we should praise him enthusiastically. Overall this scripture expounds on why we should praise the lord and by doing this we would be showing appreciation for his sacrifices.

Awesome book!  Shows the downfall of a king manipulated by his daughters and followers. Depicts the transformation King Lear has to undergo in order to adapt to his new surroundings. Shows how the balance of an entire kingdom changes due to newly appointed roles. Very entertaining and attention grabbing! Informative and detailed throughout the entire play. Portrays an exciting story of betrayal, deceit and forgiveness!

Dutchess Lillian had been widowed for 14 months, 2 weeks and 3 days. In the middle ages women occupied a numerous of positions from housewives, nuns, mothers, wives, peasants and many more roles during that time. Medieval society was harsh for women. Very few lived comfortable lives. Such as royalty. The middle ages were predominantly ruled by men, and the women were expected to simply follow their lead. Women were basically assigned jobs and roles that men felt were suitable for them, but they most common held job was being the housewife nd taking care of the house and family. Village women held the role being a housewife and farming. Women also were constricted by many rules set by men, such as, they were not allowed to get married without their parents consent, they were not allowed to divorce their husbands and they could not own any land unless their husband died. In conclusion women were not treated equal and treated as property, and although changes have been made since then, there are still strides to be made today. historylearning...

Geoffrey Chauncer is known as the father of literature and the prime shaper of English. Chauncer was also praised by fellow poets and critics. Chauncer was the first to use the English Language. Even before William Shakespeare. All his praise seemed to come as a surprise due to his orgins of being from Middle English. Chauncer's work was often divided into 3 stages from French influence to Italian tendencies and finally English realism.  His achievements consisted of the rejection of conventions, rhetoric, types, and symbols.

Dear Advice Column, My name is Grant and I am currently dealing with a dilemma. I am a school teacher, who has been assigned the task of transforming a man named Jefferson from a hog into a man before his execution. Jefferson is being executed for a murder he did not commit. And while on trial Jefferson was referred to as a "hog" I am doing this as a favor to his aunt Emma who had become stressed from this whole ordeal. My situation is, I am not sure how to properly handle the issue with Jefferson.  During my few visits with him he has been vague and unresponsive to my attempts to connect with him. For example when ever we bring him food he refuses to eat it. And him being called a hog seems to have had a major impact on him. For example whenever I talk to him he tells me it's pointless and it's even to the point where he even got on the ground and ate like an hog. I am not sure how to respond to him. What steps should I take to solve my problems.
